At Folklore Apothecary, we pour every candle with care, blending 2:1 soy wax to beeswax and finishing with a cherry wood wick for a slow, even burn and a warm, natural crackle. Proper candle care ensures you get the longest-lasting fragrance and flame from each hand-poured candle.

Our 2:1 soy-to-beeswax ratio combines:

Candle Care Tips for Maximum Longevity

1. Trim Your Wick

Before each burn, trim the burnt portion from your cherry wood wick & blow the debris into the waste basket.

Prevents smoke and soot.
Helps maintain a steady flame.
Encourages an even melt pool.

2. First Burn Matters

Let your candle burn long enough for the entire top layer to melt on the first burn (usually 2–3 hours).

Prevents tunneling down the center.
Maximizes wax usage and scent throw.

3. Keep It Clean

Remove debris, wick trimmings, or matches before lighting.
Avoid burning near drafts to prevent uneven melting.

4. Moderate Burn Time

Do not burn our candles for more than 3 hours at a time. This helps with wick longevity, soy evaporation & overall safety.

For best results, burn candles for 2–3 hours at a time.
Burning until all the wax melts can cause the wicks to move around & overheat the edge of the container. Avoid this.
